I worked as a legislative assistant to former Council Member Charlie Chong. During that time, I worked with all city departments, council members, the law department and the citizens  to shape public policy. While working on farm worker legislation in 1992 I discovered that many activist didn't have a comprehensive understanding of the legislative process.  It led to the publication of a textbook I now publish called "Access to Democracy" which helps people understand the legislative process.

Civic Involvement

As much as time and opportunity have allowed over the years, I’ve donated time, skill, and labor to causes ranging from abused women and children to the Nader2000 presidential campaign.  In my youth, I contributed my artistry to performance benefits to efforts such as that Broadway Director Liz Swados organized to clean up New York’s Hudson River in the early 80’s.  I’ve written award-winning essays on racial unity and law.

The League urges voters to use other sources of election information in addition to the candidate evaluation report before going to the polls.
