The Municipal League of King County, by contrast, found it easier to recruit volunteers to interview and rate candidates because interview committees trained and began their work before the Fourth of July, said league Chairman Bruce Carter.
There was a downside for the Municipal League, though. The only pre-primary candidates forum — a Medina luncheon during Seafair week — was canceled for lack of interest.
“I guess the opportunity to hear candidates doesn’t compete very well with the Blue Angels,” Carter said.
