Local Civic Organizations
- Advance Bellevue
- Advance Bellevue is a community-based, non-profit organization. Its mission
is to develop informed, effective leaders for key volunteer positions in the
greater Bellevue community.
- The Alki
Foundation
- An affiliate of the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce, the
foundation is a diverse,
non-partisan group of business people working to build more effective local
government in the Seattle area. Alki’s membership includes lawyers, small
business owners, consultants, manufacturers and a host of other business and
professional community members.
- CityClub
- CityClub is a non-partisan, nonprofit education organization
dedicated to informing citizens and building community leadership in the
greater Seattle region. CityClub has presented over 800 public affairs forums
and events since its founding in 1981. CityClub does not take positions on
issues.
- Leadership
Tomorrow
- The mission of Leadership Tomorrow is to develop informed and committed
community leaders. Its programs are designed to help participants acquire an
understanding of the critical issues affecting the region, and the leadership
and stewardship capabilities necessary to resolve them.
- Town Hall Seattle

Town Hall Seattle, which
opened in 1999, is located in a 1922 building on Seattle's historic First
Hill. A nonprofit organization with deep roots in
Seattle's civic life operates the building, which is home to many of Seattle's
fine cultural and civic organizations.
National Civic Organizations
- National Civic League

National
Civic League (NCL) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization founded in 1894,
headquartered in Denver. Best known for the annual All-America City Awards,
NCL works directly with communities to foster cross-sector
collaboration and grass roots problem solving.
- League of Women Voters
- The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political
organization, encourages
the informed and active participation of citizens
in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy
issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
- Initiative and
Referendum Institute
- The Initiative & Referendum Institute is a non-profit,
non-partisan, educational and research organization that analyzes,
promotes and defends the initiative and referendum process.
Organizations Which Do Non-Partisan Candidate Ratings
The Municipal League of King County is one of a very few organizations in
the country which evaluates and rates non-judicial political candidates.

to produce similar ratings.
- Citizen's League of Greater
Cleveland
(former link no longer active: www.citizensleague.org) - Issued their 103rd Annual Non-Partisan Report
on Candidates and Issues in 1999. Rated Suburban Mayoral Races, Municipal
Court Judges, and ballot issues. Has a single "Candidates
Committee" and a single "Issues Committee." Ratings are
Superior, Well Qualified, Sufficient, Marginal,
Should Not Be Elected, and
Did Not Participate. Report available in Adobe PDF format.
