Municipal League Announces Recommendations on
King County Charter Amendments

SEATTLE – The Municipal League of King County today announced recommendations on the eight proposed amendments to the King County Charter before voters in next month's general election.

• Amendment 1 – Making King County Elections
  Director an Elective Position (Initiative 25)                    NO

• Amendment 2 – Anti-Discrimination in King County       YES

• Amendment 3 – Composition of Regional Committees  YES

• Amendment 4 – Qualifications of Elected Officials          NO

• Amendment 5 – Establish a Forecast Council and
  Office of Economic and Financial Analysis                      YES

• Amendment 6 – Earlier Budget Deadlines                     YES

• Amendment 7 – Amending King County Charter
  by Initiative                                                                  YES

• Amendment 8 – Making County Council, Executive
  and Assessor Non-Partisan Positions (Initiative 26)     YES

This year's recommendations are the result of the work of a group of citizens who volunteered for the Municipal League's Ballot Issues Committee.  They studied each issue and heard from both sides of each proposal.  Each recommendation was carefully reviewed by the Municipal League's trustees.
