Municipal League Recommends
YES on Prop. 1, NO on I-985
SEATTLE – The Municipal League of King County today recommended voters approve Proposition 1 and reject Initiative 985 on the general election ballot.
Proposition 1 would fund expanded Sound Transit bus service, commuter rail and light rail over the next 15 years. To read the Municipal League's report urging a YES vote, click here.
Initiative 985 would worsen congestion by opening the region's HOV lanes to all traffic and preventing use of revenue from tolls to improve transit. The measure is "one size fits all" policy that makes it harder for local governments to improve mobility. For more about why the Municipal League urges a NO vote, click here.
"Prop. 1 funds critical transportation improvements while I-985 would undermine the investments the region has already made," said Brad Meacham, Municipal League Chair. "Prop.1 is a step forward and I-985 is a big step backward."
